The Poetry Project
an invitation
Hello everyone! One of the things I’ve bee noticing about Substack over the last few years is this opportunity for community and connection.
So… I’m going to try out a new thing here and I hope, if you’re interested, you’ll join me in what is somewhat of an experiment I suppose.
I’ve been playing with the idea of creating a space for community poems. What do I mean by this?
At the beginning of each month (sorry, getting started a little late this time) I’m going to give a writing prompt. I’m inviting you to respond with just one sentence.
I will then take those responses and write a poem, to be shared here, at the end of that month. The prompt could be the title, or part of the poem, I’m leaving that open at the moment as we get started.
Could be fun don’t you think?
The prompt for this month is “The voices in my head…”
If you’d like to participate please respond by February 17th. Next month, we will get started sooner so you’ll have more time, but let’s give it a go and see what happens eh?
Love,
Bethany

I love this! Although I’m absolutely rubbish at poetry, here’s my attempt. If it ruins the flow, please feel free to leave it out 😂
Voices in my head, from every corner shout;
Which one do I listen to, which one needs me now?
The voices in my head -
cry out “be not despondent and see the truth”
